There is no substitute for seeing your general dentist every six months, however, here are some quick tips to take care of your teeth between visits.
Brush your teeth! I know it is obvious, but it really is the best way to keep your teeth strong and healthy. There are plenty of different tooth brushes and tooth pastes that will help personalize your brushing experience. We recommend using a soft bristled toothbrush. Toothpaste options include: tooth whitening, sensitive teeth, tartar protection, etc. Be sure to speak to a dental professional for the best options for your teeth.
Floss! Dentists cannot stress this enough. There is an old saying, “Only floss the teeth you want to keep.” Brushing your teeth does not clean thoroughly enough between teeth. 3-5 minutes per day can keep your smile food free, but more importantly, can improve the health of your teeth. Remember to get even the hard to reach places.
A tongue cleaner can save the day. The tongue is an interesting muscle. It allows you to taste and enjoy the spice of life. Keep it clean! Use a tongue cleaner to gently scrape off any residue left from previous meals. Cleaning your tongue will help with bad breath and help keep bacteria off your tongue. This will keep your tongue healthy and ready for the next meal.
