Treating Resorption in a Premolar Tooth Using Laser-Assisted Precision
Emily came to us after experiencing increasing discomfort on a lower premolar. Her dentist had detected an irregular radiolucency and referred her for a specialist evaluation. The pre-operative radiograph and scan confirmed the diagnosis: cervical resorption, a condition in which the structure of the tooth begins to break down from the outside surface.
Because resorption creates irregular spaces, conventional cleaning methods often cannot fully access or disinfect all affected areas. To ensure complete decontamination, Dr. D. combined microscopic instrumentation with advanced laser-assisted irrigation, allowing cleaning solutions and laser energy to penetrate the full extent of the resorptive defect.
Following laser activation and careful instrumentation, the entire root canal system and resorptive defect were thoroughly cleaned and sealed. The post-operative radiograph shows a dense, well-condensed three-dimensional fill, successfully repairing the resorptive defect and reinforcing the premolar.
Emily’s symptoms resolved quickly, and the tooth was saved—thanks to precise diagnosis and the enhanced cleaning capability of laser-assisted endodontics.
